Good Patterns for Auction Piece

Every year, at the Wing Christmas Party, Family Support has a silent auction to benefit several programs they provide throughout the year. For the past several years, I have donated a creation, with the funds going to the summer camp they provide for military youth every summer. I have been thinking for weeks about what I should do this year and now, two weeks out, I need to make a decision while I still have time to make it.
I have been thinking about making Marilee Rockley’s Beguiled necklace from her “Up and Tat ‘Em” book. It is available on her Etsy.
Last year, I made the Bedazzled Butterfly from her book, “Boutique Tatting” see the picture down below.
However, before I buy a new pattern book, I figured I would ask all you out there if you have any tried and true patterns for fundraisers. I don’t mind spending the next 2 weeks making something for the cause but feel like I have failed them if it doesn’t go for very much.
So what ya got for me?

Weekly Challenge #10

This week’s pattern was my first accidental variation while following a pattern.  Accidents can be very pretty things. You are getting one of my patterns this week for a couple of reasons. One is that I have company in town (my awesome Mum-in-law and my Aussie grandmother, who is currently visiting the states) – so I’m a bit pressed for tatting time. Secondly, today is a day that I remember my forever 13 brother – I love and miss him lots. So hearts for everyone. Family is wonderful and I do hope that everyone is able to take some time to enjoy their family and friends.

Source for the pattern I was following – “Priscilla Yoke Ear Rings” provided by Elain Gan on her blog: http://tattingpatterns.blogspot.com/2012/03/priscilla-yoke-earrings.html You should check out the other patterns she has on her blog as well!

The pattern for the original medallion can be found in Priscilla Yoke Book by Georgette Batt (for a pdf copy visit: http://www.antiquepatternlibrary.org). It is located on pages 32 and 33.

Weekly Challenge #8 – Tatted Cameo Pendant

This week’s pattern was designed by the talented TotusMel. She has a great designer eye and it is a delight to follow her work.

Pattern: http://totusmel.blogspot.com/2010/03/free-tatted-cameo-pattern.html

I don’t feel that I quite did her pattern justice.  It is so pretty.  I think I need some more practice with such a large ring (80 ds). It was nice learning how to make Victorian sets. I look forward to trying some of her other patterns in the future! This is definitely a pattern I will do again once I’ve had a bit more practice with Victorian sets. I had started out with size 20 thread, but I couldn’t get my ring to close. So I switched to size three thread and that made closing the ring easier.
