Call for Teachers for 24th Annual Tatting Workshop & Retreat

We are seeking talented tatters to teach at our 24th Annual Tatting Workshop & Retreat to be held at the Ross Point Camp and Conference Center on April 30 – May 3, 2020.
Our theme for the workshop will be “Carnaval” with the theme contest centered around “Mardi Gras”. This theme is all about having fun and letting our imaginations run wild. Let’s see where it takes us.

We are looking for classes that offer:

  • new and creative ideas for projects
  • a variety of techniques
  • suitability for all skill levels

Original and new patterns are preferred, but not required. Patterns copyrighted by others are allowed with written permission from the author of the pattern.
Note: Class projects do not need to be theme related.

Applications due by noon on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Call for 2019 Workshop Teachers

The Shuttlebirds Tatting Guild, of Spokane WA, is now accepting teacher applications for our 23rd Annual Tatting Workshop and Retreat to be held on May 2 – 5, 2019. Our theme will be ‘Beach Blanket Bingo’.
We are seeking fresh ideas for creative and innovative projects utilizing a variety of techniques and suitable for all skill levels. Original, and/or new patterns are preferred, however, patterns copyrighted by others are allowed with written permission. Patterns and/or classes taught, in any variation, at a previous Shuttlebirds workshop will not be considered. Technique classes may be repeated provided new project patterns are used.
We look forward to seeing what techniques and patterns you want to teach at the 2019 Workshop!
Application deadline: Noon (PST) on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

A Bouquet of Blossoms Theme Contest

The theme this year is “May Flowers.”  Categories include 2 and 3 dimensional single blooms and 2 and 3 dimensional bouquets of 3 or more blooms. This is a one hour powerpoint presentation on tatting shuttle history showing all types of shuttles found in America and instruction on how to identify what they are made of. The presentation includes a shuttle display and also a question and answer period.

Tatting Poker Run


Natalie Rogers’ “Choose Your Own Adventure” free form tatting poker run is back. Participants will draw their cards at various times Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. You will gather Friday evening to ask questions, swap cards if desired, and tat your “hand.” Your creations will be shared on Saturday at lunchtime.
