Weekly Challenge #23 – Pumpkin Earrings

This week’s pattern was created by Nicole (Penolopy Bulnick). It is a delightful pair of pumpkin earrings. Her instructable is written step by step for needle tatters. Shuttle tatters should be able to easily follow her short hand notation for this pattern. Feel free to ask me questions if you run into them as I used my shuttles on this one.

Pumpkin Earrings designed by Nicole (a.k.a. Penolopy Bulnick) and tatted by Natalie Rogers. *tail tucking, earring wire, and matching pumpkin to come after my cold goes away and I can focus again.

It’s a fun pattern for fall, harvest, and Halloween. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I hope you will forgive the fact that I don’t have a completed pair yet. Since Thursday I’ve driven to Colorado and back, come down with horrible sinus issues/cold, and actually only arrived home this morning (um… guess it will actually be yesterday when this posts). I’m pretty tired, but I wanted to make sure you got this awesome challenge. These pumpkins are adorable and I look forward to seeing yours!

Weekly Challenge #22 – Meandering Path

This week’s pattern was created by Jeanne Lugert. It is a very beautiful pattern. I really love the way it flows from one part to the next. I can easily picture it as a lovely path through a wonderfully laid out garden. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Pattern: http://ladytats.blogspot.com/p/patterns.html (both written and in diagram form)

Meandering Path - designed by Jeanne Lugert - tatted by Natalie Rogers in Lizbeth thread Niagara Falls (size 40) and Purple Dark (size 20).

I wanted to see what this pattern would look like in two colors. I really liked the way it turned out. However, when I do it again, I will make sure that the two colors are in the same thread size. That’s what I get for starting this pattern after 9 pm with sleepy eyes. Still, a very wonderful pattern!

Weekly Challenge #21 – TARDIS

This week’s pattern was created by Anne Bruvold. Though most of us may not be lucky enough to travel through time and space in a TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space). We are all lucky that Anne has created this pattern so that we may have our own miniature TARDIS. This is for all the Doctor Who fans (past, present, & future – of course!). If you aren’t a fan, chances are high that you may know a fan.

We have previously featured two other patterns by Anne: Minor Norwegian Dragon (Challenge #2) and Ringtrim (Challenge #13).

Pattern: Tardis – http://www.nuperelle.net/motiver/Tardis_eng.pdf

This pattern contains one split chain. I had to look up the technique, because I haven’t used it in a while. I now realize I should get some additional practice with it.

Weekly Challenge #15 -Surprise! Jane Eborall Tat it and See 2013

This week’s pattern is from Jane Eborall and is one of her yearly Tat it and See. The idea behind it is that you don’t know what you are making until you get to the end, unless you figure it out sooner. I did this earlier in the year and it was a lot of fun, especially when you are working with a magnificent pattern writer like Jane. The trick is NOT to look ahead. You will be tempted. You will think, just a little peek. Don’t, just do that day, Then move to the next. Since we are doing this late in the game, we do get the advantage of having all days available so we can work it all in one sitting if we wish. But work them in order, one at a time and enjoy the challenge.

In order to finish this before the nest Wednesday Challenge, I am going to do 2 days at a time. After a few days I will set up another post so we can post pictures as we follow along. Lets get this started.

You can find Jane Eborall at any of these locations:

Blog: http://www.janeeborall.blogspot.com/
Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/tattingjane/
Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/janeeborall
Tatting Patterns: http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/

I warn you, clear your day before you head out to Jane’s blog. She has no much information and free patterns you will look up and find out your whole afternoon is lost. I know from experience. Enjoy.

Weekly Challenge #14 – Sweetheart Snowflake

This week’s pattern is a variation of Gina Butler’s Garter pattern. This variation was created by Natalie Rogers. It is shared here with Gina’s permission. The idea for a snowflake came to me as I was working through Gina’s lovely garter pattern. I had hoped to have it ready for you last week as a “Christmas in July” type post, but my computer did not cooperate with me. So here it is a week later. I hope you enjoy it!

I haven’t written up very many patterns – so please tell me if you find a mistake or have suggestions. Thanks!

Weekly Challenge #13 – Ringtrim – a Microdragon

This week’s pattern was designed by Anne Bruvold. Anne’s Flying Minor Norwegian Dragon was featured as Challenge #2. Anne created Ringtrim for tatters to practice their tatted rings. This pattern utilizes both single shuttle split rings and split rings. The wing also allows tatters to practice throwing a ring off of a split ring. If you choose to work in a single color you can get away with just split rings, but I encourage you to make him as directed at least once.

A special thanks to Shuttlebirds Guild Member, Denice Lewis, for bringing this cute pattern to my attention! You can see several dragons Denice tatted and shared at our last guild meeting in the reader submissions section below.
